Dr. Gilles Beauregard performs various types of facial surgery at the Centre de Chirurgie Plastique de l'Île-des-Soeurs. Facial surgery can help define your natural traits and give you a more youthful look. Here is some information about the procedures performed by Dr. Beauregard:
The muscles of the face and neck, which sag over time, will be tightened by this surgery, resulting in smoother looking skin. Since a face lift will reduce signs of aging without actually stopping the aging process, a second facelift may sometimes be necessary after several years. However, thanks to advances in technology, today’s techniques produce impressive results that you can enjoy for much longer than in the past, while leaving very few visible traces (scars).
Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) can be performed for several reasons other than cosmetic. In fact, many patients have a nasal obstruction or malformation, which makes breathing more difficult. This intervention can be approached in many ways, but first requires a thorough evaluation of the nose (nose shape, structure and morphology), which is performed during the initial consultation. In some cases, if it is a medical necessity, rhinoplasty is covered by your medical insurance program.
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) gives your eyes a youthful lift. With age, the upper eyelids can become droopy and pockets can develop under the lower eyelids. By eliminating excess skin on the eyelids and reducing the volume of the pockets, blepharoplasty improves your vision and overall expression while also giving you a more alert, healthy and youthful look. In addition, you can enjoy the results over the long term.
Also known as genioplasty or mentoplasty, chin surgery consists of modifying the shape and structure of the chin in cases where it is too far back (receding chin) or too prominent (protruding chin). Your chin is an essential part of your facial morphology, so the surgeon must evaluate your face in its entirety before determining the surgical technique that is most appropriate for your situation. Sometimes, the surgeon will recommend rhinoplasty or superficial liposuction as well, to get results that are more harmonious and consistent with the rest of your face.
Juvéderm® was developed to rejuvenate the look of your skin. This treatment has the effect of smoothing out wrinkles and restoring facial volumes. This treatment can also be used to enhance certain facial features, including the lips and cheeks, or to achieve a more defined facial structure.
Botox, or botulinum toxin type A, is a very popular anti-wrinkle treatment that’s quick and minimally invasive. The injections are performed with a very fine needle (not causing any pain) and target wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead and neck, and the contours of the eyes and lips. Botox relaxes muscles, making the skin look smoother. However, the results are not permanent and usually fade in less than 6 months.
Hylaform, Perlane and Restylane Injections
Botox is not the only injectable anti-wrinkle treatment available on the market. Hylaform, Perlane and Restylane treatments are all based on hyaluronic acid, a substance known for its hydrating, nutritive and anti-wrinkle properties. Combined with collagen, these injections restore volume to the skin by treating moderate to deep wrinkles, and contribute to the cellular renewal of the skin. The effects of Perlane and Restylane can last from 6 to 12 months. Hylaform’s results are more temporary, lasting around 12 weeks.
